Our level of vitamin D may actually be a predictor of our ability to lose fat, according to Shalamar Sibley, a researcher in the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Alzheimer's May Be Predicted by Appetite

The BBC News reports that the 12-year study of 198 volunteers found that those who had the lowest levels of the hormone leptin, which regulates appetite, were more likely to develop Alzheimer's than those who had the highest levels. Specifically, 25 percent of those with the lowest levels of leptin went on to develop Alzheimer's disease, compared with 6 percent of those with the highest levels. The encouraging news from this is that leptin may someday be used not only as a marker to identify those most at risk, but also as a treatment.

Celebrity Advice

"...celebrity medical advice can be hazardous. Their messages have led some doctors and patients to make inappropriate health decisions, at times increasing risks for patients and driving up health care costs. Their advocacy, while informative and inspiring, often oversimplifies complex medical issues. Finally, the first-class advantages most celebrities enjoy can create false hope for their economy-class public. "

My Shopping List

A couple months ago I wrote about being prepared and how I so desperately needed to be more prepared, especially with my diet.  I confessed that I had slacked on my eating plan and that I knew that in order to get back on track I needed to make menus and shopping lists, and basically just get organized.  Well, I'm still working on it and gearing up for all the work that being organized with menus and shopping lists takes (even though once I am organized in this area life is just so much easier!!).
