McDonald's Soft Serve Cone

There is nothing like a McDonald's soft serve cone. I can say this with authority because I know it to be a true, hard fact. I go through phases of foods that I am obsessed with. During my soft serve phase I tried all the soft serve available in town and McDonald's still came out on top!! A close second is the Tastee Freez cone at Weinerschnitzel, but that cone will put you back 230 calories. For just 150 calories, you can enjoy the best soft serve ice cream out there!!

List: 10 Sweet Ideas

I hate to admit this, but I don't have a sweet tooth....I have an entire mouthful of sweet teeth.  In my quest for a thin me, this is a huge burden and something I need to either overcome (yeah right) or somehow work around.  Since I am strongly against the use of artificial sweeteners because 1) they all taste horrific, 2) I am not convinced of their safety, and 3) there's plenty of research saying they inhibit weight loss anyway (so what's the point?), I have found some other ideas that satisfy my cravings for all things sweet without totally breaking the calorie bank.

Soda and Pancreatic Cancer

A recent study by the Karolinska Institue in Sweden of nearly 80,000 men and women from 1997 to 2005 showed that there might be link between soda drinkers and pancreatic cancer.  Out of the test group 131 contracted cancer.  The institute released a statement to report that drinking soda twice a day increases your chance of getting cancer by 90%;  70% for sugary foods and 50% for fruit juice drinkers.  Drinking fizzy, sugary sodas and colas produces too much insulin in many people and may cause cancer.

Cineculture Film Series: FRESH - Discussion Clip

Jeremy Lane of RipeNow, Feliz Musqiz of the Vineyard Farmer's Market and Tom Willey of TD Farms suggest one action an individual can take to change from the current food system to a system with greater focus on variety of locally grown food. The views expressed in this clip are those of the discussant and do not necessarily reflect the official policy, position, or opinions of Fresno State or the Cineculture film series.
